PokerStars became a giant online success in 2003 and 2004 when they send the winners Chris Moneymaker and Greg Raymer to the WSOP. They got a lot of media attention, which they expanded in 2005 when Joseph Hachem joined their team. This led to a massive growth of the site in 2007; it became the largest online poker room. Behind all this publicity, however, lies a very professional website without any weak points.
When at the end of 2006 many major websites have disappeared from the market, PokerStars remained open for American players and this was awarded with the biggest number of players until now.

Fish at PokerStars
In general, PokerStars is a site where the game is mostly played rather tight. But lately, much more players get loosen up. A tight game isn’t necessarily a good game. Everyone knows that it is best to use a tactic at a cash game table, which is completely opposite to the tactics of the majority of the players. When we play at PokerStars, we generally play more hands and try to make the scared rocks run.
One advantage of PokerStars is that you can switch tables if you really do not like the game. Every limit has got about 50 tables. So do not stay too long at a table, but search for the fishes. We think it’s a relief to play at PokerStars after a few big bad beats on Everest Poker or PKR. That’s the disadvantage of too many fish!
Tournaments at PokerStars
Probably nobody will deny that PokerStars is the best site for playing tournaments. The offer is enormous, not only in guaranteed tournaments but also in Satellites. They also organize the largest weekly tournament on the Internet; the one million Guaranteed on Sunday. This is the most popular tournament and it attracts thousands of players weekly, including many Dutch people.
Tournaments with a buy-in of $ 10 - $ 50 are available daily. Those attract generally around 1,000 players, which gives you the opportunity of good prizes with a small investment. The structure of these tournaments is always good with a reasonable stack to begin with and enough time between the various blind levels. For the better tournament players, this is a positive thing. Of course, there are also many tournaments with a buy-in from $ 1 for the rookies.
All in all the tournaments at PokerStars are the biggest reason to play there.
Software
PokerStars advertises itself with the best available software. We agree on that, though there are other poker rooms which have the similar software.
PokerStars gives you the ability to upload your own avatar. That is great fun. You can even adjust the background to fit your personality.
The hand history feature is also excellent. You’re able to see all the hands of a showdown, even though they were mucked. This comes in handy if you want to analyze the game of a certain player.
